Under normal operating temperature, the exhaust smoke color of diesel engine is colorless or light gray. Black smoke, blue smoke, grey smoke and white smoke often appear in the exhaust of diesel engine. At idle speed or high speed, it will be heavier at high load. Pay attention to observe the normal exhaust color, so as to judge and analyze the abnormal exhaust color, and judge the fault position of the diesel engine, so as to eliminate the fault in time. The smoke color of diesel engine exhaust can be one of the conditions for judging diesel engine failure. The specific analysis is as follows:

1. Under the condition of high temperature and high pressure combustion, the solid micro particles with carbon as the main component formed by local hypoxia, cracking and dehydrogenation of diesel engine are the performance of imperfect fuel combustion in the combustion chamber. Black smoke (carbon smoke) black smoke from exhaust also becomes carbon smoke. The smoke from diesel engine exhaust is mainly caused by excessive fuel mixing, poor performance of combustible mixture or imperfect combustion. Under the conditions of high temperature and high pressure combustion, the solid micro particles with carbon as the main component formed by local hypoxia, cracking and dehydrogenation of diesel engine are the manifestation of incomplete fuel combustion in the combustion chamber.

2. Diesel is a complex hydrocarbon. The unburned diesel injected into the combustion chamber is decomposed by high temperature to form carbon black, which is discharged together with the exhaust gas to form colored smoke. Smoke is the product of incomplete combustion, which is released and polymerized by the cracking process of hydrocarbon combustion under the condition of high temperature and hypoxia. In some cases, fuel is injected on the wall of the combustion chamber to form a liquid oil film. The oil film is a part of evaporation after combustion. Its combustion depends on its evaporation rate and the mixing rate of fuel vapor and oxygen. If the concentration of oxygen in the surrounding gas is too low, or the mixing speed is not enough, the fuel gas evaporated from the oil film will be decomposed and generate burning hydrocarbons, complete oxidation products and black smoke. The service life of the engine can be prolonged only by maintaining a good working condition. At the same time, the full combustion of fuel not only saves fuel, improves economy, but also reduces air pollution.
